On February 11, 1929, Thomas and Mina Edison, Henry and Clara Ford, Harvey and Idabelle Firestone, and President-Elect Herbert Hoover and his wife Lou and son Herbert Jr., rode through the streets of Fort Myers in honor of the world-famous inventor’s 82nd birthday. On February 10 at 11:00 AM, the Edison and Ford Winter Estates will be installing a statue of Mina Edison created by artist D.J. Wilkins and donated by Orvall McCleary.
The statue is cast in composite aluminum. She is “heroic size” (25% larger than life) and was made from a unique cast from an original clay model.
