Edison Ford Guided Tour

Led by enthusiastic Site Historians, the tour includes the historic homes and gardens of the Edison and Ford families, as well as admission into the museum and the Edison Botanic Research Laboratory.

Guided, historian-led tours run every hour, on the hour, with the first one starting at 10 a.m. and the last tour departing at 4 p.m.

Tour time: Approximately 60 minutes

Guided tour tickets are available first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter.

Edison Ford Audio Tour

Available in English, German, French, and Spanish.

The Audio Tour offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a self-guided tour of the Edison and Ford families’ historic homes and gardens at their own pace, as well as admission into the museum and Edison Botanic Research Laboratory.

Tour time: Approximately 60 minutes

The last audio player is handed out at 4:30pm daily.

Automotive Tour – Mondays, 10:30 a.m.

The Edison Ford automobile collection includes a number of historic and antique vehicles. This special guided tour focuses on the unique collection and is led by an automotive expert.

Tour time: Approximately 90 minutes.

Tickets for the Automotive Tour are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter.

Inside the Lab Tour – Tuesdays, 10:30am; Saturdays and Sundays, 2pm

Explore the Laboratory where Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, and Henry Ford worked side by side! This unique tour goes behind the barriers in the historic Edison Botanical Laboratory.

Tour time: Approximately 75 minutes

Tickets for the Inside the Lab Tour are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter. Also includes audio tour of the estates and admission to the museum.

Garden Tour – Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m.

Edison Ford Horticulturists lead a behind-the-scenes garden tour through the propagating nursery and 20 acres of botanic gardens.

Admission includes time to tour the remainder of the site and participants receive a 10% discount on Garden Shoppe purchases.

Tour time: Approximately 90 minutes

Tickets for the Garden Tour are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter.

Inside the Homes Tour – Thursdays & Fridays 11:00 a.m.

The Inside the Homes Tour takes visitors through normally-closed areas of Thomas Edison’s and Henry Ford’s winter estate homes. Tours are led by Edison Ford curatorial staff and expert historians. Visitors will enjoy rooms not seen during other tours. The tour is offered in a small-group format to allow for questions and discussion.

For persons with limited mobility, please speak with a staff member about special accommodations when making a reservation.

Tour time: Approximately 90 minutes

Thursday tour tickets require registration– spots are limited. Call 239-335-3674 to reserve a spot.

Friday tour tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Edison Ford members receive one free Inside the Homes Tour per year.

For German speaking visitors, Edison Ford offers a German language tour led by an Edison Ford Site Historian on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. The tour includes the historic homes, gardens, and Edison Botanic Research Laboratory presented in German.
