Emerging Inventors Early Learning Classes

Edison Ford Emerging Inventors Early Learning Program for one - three year old children and their parents, grandparents and other family members begins in October.  The program includes socializing with others, education activities, story time, singing, crafts and exploring the homes, gardens and museum at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. 

Every month will have a theme and each session will introduce science through activities and time to tend the Emerging Inventors' Vegetable Garden!  Children and parents are encouraged to bring lunch or snack to enjoy on the grounds after the program. 

The Learning Classes will begin again October 2015 and will be the first and third Thursday of each month (except January 2016) from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and parents can select specific dates or come regularly.

Cost: 
Edison Ford Members : $5 (one adult; one child)
Edison Ford Non Members: $15 (one adult; one child)
Each Additional Child:  $5

  • 9:00 am – 10:30 am
  • Payment is encouraged at the time of registration.
  • Led by Edison Ford faculty.
  • Time to tour the homes, gardens & laboratory on your own.

Emerging Inventors Programming 2015-2016

October 1st and 15th- 9am – 11am— Pumpkin Party—Emerging Inventors get into Halloween fun with a trick or treat walk around the Edison &Ford Winter Estates, along with learning about the moon and stars in the night sky and paint pumpkins!

November 5th and 19th – 9am -11am— Electricity—Emerging inventors experiments with electricity and energy through hands-on activities and demonstrations that will make their hair stand-up and paper “dance!”

December 3rd and 17th -9am -11am—Holiday Fun- Emerging Inventors get ready for the holidays with a visit from Santa and create presents and ornaments. Students will make snow!

January 21st- 9am-11am- Smarts in Art & Science—Emerging Inventors learns colors and science while experimenting with polymer, milk, paints and more.

February 4th and 18th—9am -11am— Legos--- Join in the fun to read a LEGO story and build animals, a number train, and rockets! Emerging Inventors build with LEGOS and practice team work.

March 3rd and 17th—9am – 11am--- Flowers & Trees—Students will learn about and use all five senses in this class while discovering many flowers and trees at the Edison Ford Winter Estates!

April 7th—9am -11am—Edison Chemistry—Emerging Inventors learn about and create mixtures and solutions through multiple activities as with polymers.
