Pre-School Series 2026-2027
The Pre-School Program is a 90-minute class with hands-on STEAM activities, learning through play! The class helps introduce educational readiness for kids 18 months to 5 years of age. The series supports developing social and behavioral skills with their classmates and teacher. It is structured with an hour of activities, and half an hour of independent play and snack time. 1 or 2 parents/guardians/family members can accompany the student in class.
- Friday, September 4, 2026, 10am-11:30am – Creative Math Kids – In this pre-k class, students learn basic science process skills with math, sorting, routines, and how to follow instructions in fun play activities. Students will play simple, fun hands-on activities with different kinds of fun measurements that they can find at home. Students learn to conduct a paper math activity and create density stackers! Follows Engineering/Science Standards and Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Social and Emotional Development, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, and Approaches to Learning.
- Friday, October 9, 2026, 10am-11:30am: – Little Chemistry Inventors – Learn about Chemistry and about Thomas Edison who used to live at the Edison Ford Museum and Winter Estates! Students learn science process skills and explore fun hands-on activities like milk color explosion, making slime and rubber balls. Pre-schoolers learn to sort, follow a routine, and follow instructions in fun play activities. Follows Engineering/Science Standards and Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Social and Emotional Development, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, and Approaches to Learning.
- Friday, November 6, 2026, 10am-11:30am – Dinosaur Explorers – Preschoolers learn about enormous ancient animals on Earth called Dinosaurs! Introduction to Paleontology and Geology, kids create their own dinosaurs with play doh! Students interact with different kinds of rocks and learn to organize them! Pre-schoolers learn to sort, follow a routine, follow instructions and stay with tasks in fun play activities. Follows Engineering/Science Standards and Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Social and Emotional Development, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, and Approaches to Learning.
- Friday, December 4, 2026, 10am-11:30am – Busy Bee Botanists –Pre-schoolers will take nature walks exploring seasonal plants, insects and birds of the Edison Ford Estates. Students learn how to sprout beans and learn about life cycles, sunlight and soil, and build a bird house to take home. Preschoolers learn to sort, follow a routine, follow instructions and stay with tasks in fun play activities. Follows Engineering/Science Standards and Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Social and Emotional Development, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, and Approaches to Learning.
- Friday, January 8, 2027, 10am-11:30am – Bright Engineers- Learn about Henry Ford as an Engineer at the Edison Ford Museum and Winter Estates. Pre-schoolers will take a tour and see different cars at the property. Create wheels and axles with Legos and take home their own car designs. Preschoolers will learn to sort, follow a routine, follow instructions and stay with tasks in fun play activities. Follows Engineering/Science Standards and Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Social and Emotional Development, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, and Approaches to Learning.
- Friday, February 5, 2027, 10am-11:30am – Robotic Trekkers- Pre-schoolers will learn basic logic skills and how to problem-solve directions with a fun mouse maze robotic game! Students create their own simple crafty bug bots to take home. Preschoolers learn to sort, follow a routine, follow instructions and stay with tasks in fun play activities. Follows Engineering/Science Standards and Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Social and Emotional Development, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, and Approaches to Learning.
- Friday, March 5, 2027, 10am-11:30am – Space Voyagers – Pre-schoolers learn about space and planets. Students conduct simple activities like straw rockets and engineer space rockets with LEGOs! Preschoolers learn to sort, follow a routine, follow instructions and stay with tasks in fun play activities. Follows Engineering/Science Standards and Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Social and Emotional Development, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, and Approaches to Learning.
- Friday, April 2, 2027, 10am-11:30am – Anthropology Kids- Pre-schoolers learn about storytelling, observation and the ancient Calusa people of SW Florida! Students make Calusa pottery and create masks with play doh. Preschoolers will learn to sort, follow a routine, follow instructions and stay with tasks in fun play activities. Follows Engineering/Science Standards and Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Social and Emotional Development, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, and Approaches to Learning.
