One of the most sought-after garden perennials in Southwest Florida, Hibiscus has always been historically important within the gardens at Edison Ford. Mrs. Clara Ford loved her Hibiscus schizopetalus and Mrs. Mina Edison used Hibiscus rosa-sinensis as standards on her property and along McGregor Boulevard. This talk will give you the tools to understanding their unique characteristics so you have the best-looking Hibiscus!
Guest speaker, Beth Meehan, the president of the James Hendry Chapter of the National Hibiscus Society is both an expert on Hibiscus and a breeder of the lovely plants. She will talk about the major species, but the focus is on the popular Hibiscus rosa-sinensis.
The talk will take place in the SW Florida Water Management building at 2301 McGregor Boulevard (next to the Estates). Please purchase a ticket at the ticket counter of the Estates and get a wristband to attend the talk.
A limited number of rare Hibiscus will also be available for sale.
No advance registration is required. All participants will receive a 20% discount coupon toward plants in the Garden Shoppe.
