Whether you have just recently moved to Florida or have lived here all of your life, you may have noticed the great diversity of plants in this wonderful state. Many native plants have been overlooked in newly developed communities, where exotics that require more maintenance and care are abundant. When planning a garden or home landscape, using native plants can help eliminate frustrations.
This Garden Talk will focus on Florida natives and includes walking through part of the Edison Ford gardens to see natives growing. We will also discuss the care of each plant and where it would work in a home landscape. Native plants will be available for sale in the Garden Shoppe and participants will receive a discount coupon toward purchases.
If you would like to see birds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife in your landscape, planting natives will bring you great joy! Participants should wear comfortable shoes for walking, sunscreen, a hat, and bring drinking water.
