Holiday Nights Opens at Edison & Ford Winter Estates
 
FORT MYERS, Fla. (November 9, 2017) -- On November 24, Edison & Ford Winter Estates will kick off its 42nd celebration of Holiday Nights. The winter estate homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford will be decorated with thousands of lights and decorations. Opening Night festivities will start at 6 p.m. with the annual tree lighting ceremony. 
This event has become a tradition in Southwest Florida and a top destination for visitors around the globe. This year's theme is "A Star Spangled Holiday" and reminisces holidays from the Victorian Era with red, white and blue lights and decorations.
 
The Liquid Fireworks by Waltzing Waters water fountain light show will return this year and there will be holiday carolers strolling around the site. History characters Mr. and Mrs. Edison and Mr. and Mrs. Ford will host a special Holiday Tea on December 13 at 6:30 p.m. 
 
For children, local artist Doug MacGregor will be on site drawing cartoons on November 24, December 9, 16 and 23; Santa will be visiting on select nights; and there will be a holiday science show on December 16 from 10-11 a.m. Children are also invited each night to make holiday postcards for military personnel. In addition, the Children’s Tree Trail opens on November 20 and includes more than 60 trees with hand-made ornaments from local school children.

The Edison Ford Museum and Botanic Research Laboratory, as well as the Ford Cottage Shoppe, Museum Store and Garden Shoppe will be open until 9 p.m. every night. The museum features two new exhibits, including the Smithsonian Spark!Lab and the Timeline of Innovation.
 
Guided Holiday Tradition Tours will be offered at 6 and 7 p.m. nightly and Inside-the-Homes Holiday Tours on Tuesday nights, starting November 28 at 6:30 p.m. A sightseeing river cruise and sunset cruise are offered through Pure Florida at the Marina at Edison Ford and can be reserved by calling 239-919-2965. 

Holiday Nights tickets for adults are $20, teens (13-19) $10, children (6-12) $2, and children 5 and under are free. Edison Ford members are also admitted free. Guided Holiday Tradition Tours are $30 for adults, teens are $25, children $18 and $10 for Edison Ford members. Inside-the-Homes Holiday Tours are $50. Lee County residents will receive $5 off tickets on November 27, 28, 29 and December 2, 3, 9, 10, 19, 20, 27, 28 and 29.

Edison Ford is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Edison Ford has been awarded the National Stewardship Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It is an official project of “Save America’s Treasures," a Florida Historic Landmark and a National Register Historic Site. Recently, the Edison Botanical Laboratory was designated as a National Historic Chemical Landmark.
