Celebrate Edison's Birthday at Edison Ford

FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 5, 2016) -- The public is invited to celebrate Edison's 169th birthday on February 11, at 10:00 a.m. Edison's birthday party will include a science presentation by the Edison Wild Wizard, the new Edison Robot and Thomas Edison himself. Edison Park School for the Creative and Elementary Arts students will dance and play stringed instruments. This is an Edison Festival of Light sanctioned event.

The Edison Festival of Light activities are centered around Edison's achievements in science and time honored traditions such as parades and Edison's birthday party at Edison Ford.

The Edison Park School students' performance has a history that goes back to the time when students entertained Thomas and Mina Edison on his birthday. Today, the school’s rich program encourages students to excel in all curricula by integrating the performing and visual arts. Ten years ago, teachers from the school reinstated the historic dance program which features music and dance of the Edison Era as well as contemporary favorites.

The birthday party is a free public event and seating is limited, so guests should come early. Birthday cake will be served and everyone will sing happy birthday.

Following the party, Thomas and Mina Edison will host a special Birthday Tea in the Caretakers Cottage. There is limited seating available, so registration is suggested. Fee required for the tea.
