Girl Scouts

The Edison & Ford Winter Estates create unique Girl Scout badge programs for girl scouts of all ages. Subjects range from Entertainment Technology, Home Scientist to Engineer and Invent.  All Girl Scout programming is booked through the Program Specialist for Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida at 239-561-1800.

Edison Ford Girl Scout Museum Night Badge Program
Friday, Nov. 2, 6:00pm to 11:00pm

Museum Night Badges Include: 

Brownies - Home Scientist
Junior - Product Designer
Cadets - Night Owl

Enjoy an evening of competition, creativity and inspiration when we investigate engineering, kitchen chemistry and electricity. Explore the moonlight garden, myths and legends and animals of the night. This evening is filled with exciting competitions, hands-on activities and take home projects. All scouts will receive a unique badge to the program, a pizza dinner and snacks and water provided throughout the evening.

Influential and powerful women of the past helped shape the possibilities for girls today. This is a great opportunity to learn about local women who did amazing things to change the lives of future generations of women.

Girl Scouts - Entertainment Technology
Saturday, April 6, 2013 10:00am to 12:00pm

Girl Scouts will animate artwork, learn about sound and movie effects and make an amusement ride prototype. Participants receive a badge unique to the programming.

Girl Scouts - Smarts in Arts and Science
Saturday, April 6, 2013, 1:30pm to 3:30pm

Girl Scouts learn to see like an artist.  Artists perceive edges, spaces, relationships to objects, light and shadow.  Scouts will have fun expressing themselves through multiple mediums including organic environmental material. The Edison Wild Wizard will have scouts using the right-side of their brain to create unique masterpieces. The class ends with a Girl Scout Art Exhibition. Participants receive a badge unique to the programming.

Girl Scouts - Science Investigation
Saturday, April 20, 2013,  10am to 12pm

Girl Scouts become detectives by solving different mysteries using normal everyday items. Scouts find clues on the scene, learn about DNA, morse code, match fingerprints and more. Participants receive a badge unique to the programming.

Girl Scouts - Engineer & Invent
Saturday, April 20, 2013,  1:30pm to 3:30pm

“To be a good inventor you need a good imagination and a pile of junk”, said Thomas Edison. Girl Scouts will become inventors, innovators and engineers while designing new and improved toys and products for home or school. Participants receive a badge unique to the programming

Cub Scouts & Boy Scouts

The Edison & Ford Winter Estates designed unique programming for cub scouts and boy scouts where scouts earn badges while learning science and history with hands-on, engaging experiments, demonstrations and activities.

Register Today! 

  • $15 per scout and any participating sibling
  • Scout price includes admission FREE to one parent
  • Scouts can register individually or as a group
  • Scouts and their parents are encouraged to self-guide tour the Edison Ford Winter Estates at the conclusion of the program

Tiger scouts will learn about weather, seasons, energy, plants and trees, primary and secondar colors through many fun, hands-on and engaging activities that include slime, terrariums, botanical prints and more.

Wolf scouts will tour the Edison Ford Winter Estates and Museum as Young Inventors.  Scouts will also participate in hands-on demonstrations, activities and experiments to learn about energy, recycling and more at the Edison Ford solar panels and start an Edison leaf collection.

Bear Cub Scouts will complete:
Achievement 3a-d: What Makes America Special?
Elective 4 - Electricity

Bear Scouts will tour the Edison Ford Winter Estates to learn about the importance of history, preservation and the impact Thomas Edison and his family and friends had on Fort Myers.  Bear Scouts will become inventors as they work through electrical challenges to turn on a light, a buzzer and make a wheel fly and learn more about Thomas Edison with electrical demonstrations and experiments.

Boy Scouts will Complete: Environmental Science Badge

Boy Scouts will complete components of the environmental science badge at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates.  Scouts will participate in hands-on activities and engage in discussion about preservation, the environment and more.
