Edison Ford Scout Badge Programs

The Edison & Ford Winter Estates has designed unique programming for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Webelos where scouts earn badges while learning science, technology and history with hands-on, engaging experiments, demonstrations, projects and activities. Scouts and their parents can register by calling the Edison Ford Education Department at (239) 334-7419.


$15 per scout or participating sibling (includes one parent)

  • Participating siblings must pay the $15 registration fee
  • Siblings not participating are FREE
  • Scout price includes admission FREE to one parent
  • Scouts can register individually or as a group
  • Scouts and their parents are encouraged to self-guide Edison Ford Holiday Nights concluding the program
  • Admission includes Edison Ford Holiday Nights
  • Additional Adults $10 each

Girl Scouts - Engineer & Invent
Tuesday, December 17, 2013  6:00pm to 8:00pm

“To be a good inventor you need a good imagination and a pile of junk”, said Thomas Edison. Girl Scouts will become inventors, innovators and engineers while designing new and improved toys and products for home or school. Participants receive a badge unique to the programming.

Girl Scouts - Entertainment & Computer Technology
Thursday, December 19 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Girl Scouts will work in groups to learn to program a computer to animate a cartoon or video game.

Cub Scouts & Webelo Scouts

Tuesday, December 3, 2013     6pm - 8pm 

Tiger Scouts will complete:
Achievement 5:  Let's Go Outdoors
Elective 15:  Our Colorful World
Elective 16:  Collecting and Other Hobbies
Elective 30:  Plant a Seed 
Elective 34:  Conservation. 

Tiger scouts will learn about weather, seasons, energy, plants and trees, primary and secondar colors through many fun, hands-on and engaging activities that include slime, terrariums, botanical prints and more.

Wolf Cub Scouts will complete:Achievement 4f:     Know Your Home & Community - Visit an important place in your community
Achievement 7:      Your Living World
Achievement 6:      Start a Collection
Achievement 10c:  Family Fun - Visit a museum with your family

Wolf scouts will tour the Edison Ford Winter Estates and Museum as Young Inventors.  Scouts will also participate in hands-on demonstrations, activities and experiments to learn about energy, recycling and more at the Edison Ford solar panels and start an Edison leaf collection.

Bear Cub Scouts will complete:
Achievement 3a-d: What Makes America Special?
Elective 4 - Electricity

Bear Scouts will tour the Edison Ford Winter Estates to learn about the importance of history, preservation and the impact Thomas Edison and his family and friends had on Fort Myers.  Bear Scouts will become inventors as they work through electrical challenges to turn on a light, a buzzer and make a wheel fly and learn more about Thomas Edison with electrical demonstrations and experiments. 

Webelo Scouts
Thursday, December 12, 2013    6pm - 8pm

Webelos Scouts will Complete: Technology - Scientist Badge

Webelos will complete the scientist badge while learning about Daniel Bernoulli, Newton, Pascal, atmospheric and water pressure, optical illusions and more.  This hands-on badge program covers a lot of science concepts and will require scouts to work as a team, think critically and problem solve to be able to complete all the requirements.
