Stickley Furniture Expert to Speak at Edison & Ford Winter Estates
FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 13, 2017) -- On February 14 at 2 p.m., Stickley furniture expert, Mike Danial, will speak about the history of Stickley Furniture and the Arts and Crafts Movement in the United States at Edison & Ford Winter Estates.
Danial will start the presentation "For the Love of Stickley" in the museum and then take guests to the Henry Ford winter estate for a look inside and discussion about Ford's house and furniture. The Ford house was designed and constructed in the Craftsman architectural style. Danial began his career at the L. & J.G. Stickley Furniture Co. in 1974 following in the footsteps of his great uncle, Vincenzo Mellache, who worked for Leopold Stickley in the 1940s through 1960s. Over the years, he has worked in every facet of furniture creation at the factory. He gave factory tours, sold furniture and later managed the Customer Service Department. In 1988, he became the Project Director of the Mission Oak Collection after uncovering lost artifacts buried in the old factory basement. In his 40 years at Stickley, he has seen the company grow from 25 employees in 1974 to a current employment of more than 1,000. Today he is the Corporate Historian. Danial travels throughout the country lecturing on Stickley furniture and the history and revival of the Arts and Crafts Movement in America. When not on tour, Danial is busy restoring furniture for the Stickley museum. He is also the author of "Ask Sadie!," the Stickley Answer Desk for the corporate level information systems; "Ask the Stickley Historian," a search engine of objects from 1898-1974; and "Ask the Stickley Service Tech," a knowledge base compilation of a myriad of restoration and care techniques.

The presentation is included with general admission. For more information, call 239-334-7419.
