          Discount Days at Edison Ford for Lee County Residents and Teachers 

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 10, 2016) – On Saturdays and Sundays through the end of August Edison & Ford Winter Estates is offering Lee County residents 50% off admission and teachers and their families will receive free admission. 

Lee County residents, teachers and their families will also receive 10% off retail purchases in the Museum Store and Ford Cottage Shoppe.

This is an opportunity for all Lee County residents to try out the new family audio tour. The audio takes visitors through the historic property with voice actors portraying both Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. 

The narration makes fun comparisons to technology and life today and includes sound effects of animals, trains, music playing and even the family splashing in the swimming pool. There is even a question and answer sheet for children to complete and return to staff for a prize in the Museum Store. 
Tour highlights include Edison's winter home and guest house, his study, pier, swimming pool, Moonlight Garden and caretaker's house, Ford's winter home, caretaker's house, garage and the famous Mysore Fig tree. A self-guided tour of the museum and Edison's Botanic Research Laboratory, as well as the gardens is included.

The audio is geared toward children and families; however, anyone visiting can select this tour option during the audio orientation. Visitors should allow at least an hour for the tour. The audio is available in English, German, French and Spanish and a map of the historic site is included.

Regular admission for the self-guided audio tour is $20 for adults, $15 for children aged 13-15, $11 for children aged 6-12 and free for children aged five and under. Edison Ford members receive free admission. 

Pinchers restaurant at The Marina at Edison Ford is offering a free drink with a $13.99 minimum purchase (coupon on Edison Ford map) and kids eat free.

River cruise packages with Pure Florida are available for an additional fee. During the month of August, Pure Florida is donating a percentage of ticket sales to the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools.
