Henry Ford and his wife Clara purchased their winter retreat in Fort Myers, next door to Thomas and Mina Edison in 1916. The purchase price was $20,000 for about three acres of riverfront gardens and a Craftsman-style bungalow. The home site was nicknamed “The Mangoes” for the many Mango trees on the property.

The special behind-the-scenes tours are included with admission. For more information, call 239-334-7419 or visit www.edisonfordwinterestates.org.
