Celebrate Grandparent’s Day at the Edison Ford

Fort Myers, FL (September 4, 2013) The Edison & Ford Winter Estates is offering FREE admission to Grandparents on Grandparent’s Day, September 8, 2013 from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Free admission includes an audio tour of the historic homes, gardens, Edison Ford Museum and Edison’s Botanic Research Laboratory.  Thomas and Mina Edison were grandparents to four grandchildren; Henry and Clara Ford were also grandparents to four grandchildren. 
Grandparents and children will enjoy family friendly activities in the Edison Ford Museum including hands-on science activities featuring the phonograph, “Smart Cart” and zoetrope from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Families will enjoy tours throughout the day of the homes, gardens and lab of the two inventors; audio tours available in English, German, French and Spanish; Museum demonstrations throughout the day include the Edison phonograph every half hour, and other Museum presentations including antique cars. 

The Edison Ford is open daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The Edison Ford is the winner of the 2009 National Stewardship Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is an official project of “Save America’s Treasures” at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a Florida Historic Landmark and a National Register Historic Site.
