Celebrate Edison's 170th Birthday at Edison Ford
FORT MYERS, Fla. (January 23, 2017) -- The public is invited to celebrate Thomas Edison's 170th birthday on February 10 and 11, at 10 a.m. Edison Park School Creative and Expressive Art students will dance and play stringed instruments on Feb. 10. Everyone will sing happy birthday and cake will be served. The party continues on Feb. 11, Edison's actual birthday, with cake and singing.
The party is sponsored by the Edison Pageant of Light, the organization that in 1938 began to hold annual events to memorialize Thomas Edison. Annual events include the King and Queen’s Ball, Edison's Birthday Party and the Edison Festival of Light Parade Party.

The Edison Park School students' performance has a history that goes back to the time when students entertained Thomas and Mina Edison on his birthday. Today, the school’s rich program encourages students to excel in all curricula by integrating the performing and visual arts. More than 10 years ago, teachers from the school reinstated the historic dance program with music and dance of the Edison Era as well as contemporary favorites.

The birthday party is a free public event with limited seating.
