Celebrate Clara Ford's 151st Birthday at Edison & Ford Winter Estates

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 3, 2017) -- On April 11 at 2 p.m., Edison & Ford Winter Estates will celebrate Clara Ford's 151st birthday. Living history character, Clara Ford, will greet visitors at her winter estate home, named "The Mangoes" for the many Mango trees planted around the house. She will discuss her interests and connections with Fort Myers. Clara will be available to answer questions. 

Afterward, Debbie Hughes, Senior Horticulturist will lead a tour through the Clara Ford Tribute Rose Garden. The rose was Clara's favorite flower and her Michigan garden had more than 10,000 specimens. 

Cost: Free for Edison Ford members; $20 for nonmembers (includes general admission to the site, gardens, lab and museum). Iced tea and cookies will be served.

Edison Ford is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Edison Ford has been awarded the National Stewardship Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It is an official project of “Save America’s Treasures," a Florida Historic Landmark and a National Register Historic Site. Recently, the Edison Botanical Laboratory was designated as a National Historic Chemical Landmark.
